www.megasquirt.info
its a COMPLETE do it yourself computer. depending on what mods you get it can be around 400 i think but well worth it. lots to learn about it though and it will take days to read through the manual which you definitly want to read.

yes, Megasquirt is a COMPLETE stand alone unit. You can get the software to tune it for free off the wide intraweb, and the unit is cheap too. There are some people who look down on Megasquirt because it is NOT the easiest thing in the world to tune and shops are not very familiar with it's design (as opposed to other kinds of stand alone units that cross their paths).
MegaSquirt or MS, is the ONLY way to replace our ECU... but it is like making your very own ECU. It has its pro's and cons. You can decide.
Someone posted a link to the MS website with FAQ's.... forgot where it was at.
EDIT* nvm... link is in the post above.

How does it compare to other stand alone units, such as the Greddy emanage?
Also MS site says you build it, so there are different ways you can order the unit itself, what exactly does that mean?
Shouldn't it all be the same and just the programing on the software be different, i'm not familiar with standalone units so please bear with me. Thanks
P.S. I almost forgot, who do most people go to to tune these standalone units. My town has a tuner shop that I'm not the hottest on but he has a sick *** wrx.
Just wondering, b/c i'm not to hot on doing something like the actual computer tuning on my own. Actually another q/a are there any online instructions so to speak of people who've tuned a neon with MS?
