ok so i tried switching the multi switch but now i found that the little wiring harness back there is melted so im guessing that is what the problem is...... does anyone know what the part # is, or how much the dealer sells them for? i've been trying to look around at salvage yards but no luck so far...
That's strange cause I've got the opposite problem. I have no high beams at all, or rather, none that will STAYon. When I pull the switch towards myself to turn on the high beams, they come on for a second but then go back off when I let the switch go back into place. The only way I have high beams is if I hold the high beam switch right next to the steering wheel.
so does anyone know what the part is called, how much it is(usually) [both at the dealer and at the salvage yard]? b/c i neeeeeeed my carfixed ASAP
I would ask for the connector pigtail that goes to the appropriate nearest connector. I assume from above that it is the multifunction switch. Anyhow after that you just need to splice in wire (soldering best followed by but connectors with adhesive lined shrink wrap. Then tape up the harness when done. Should be golden after that. Get the best wire you can (gas, oil, water, etc. etc. resistant).
Best of luck.
Those parts are not listed generaly to the public or in a normal parts manual but should be readily available at the dealership.
