Introduce Yourself Here!
Hi I'm David. I'm 22years old and a pilot and aircraft mechanic apprentice. I'm also a flight instructor too so anybody that wants to learn to fly in the South Florida area, give me a shout. Anyways, I drive a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT. Nothing fancy, but I've driven the hell out of the thing and it hardly gives me a problem (except for my current issue https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...h-running.html). I try and maintain it as best I can on my own, doing all the routine stuff in my garage. Working on airplanes is actually very similar to working on cars, so a lot of the techniques carry over very well. I've kind of taught myself a lot, with the aid of the Haynes Repair Manual and some occasional assistance from fellow mechanics that I work with (most of them came from the automotive industry) and of course the internet. Sadly, my car is getting up there in age and is about 500 miles away from the big 100000, so I'm not quite sure how much longer she'll be around. This is actually my second Neon, since I got into an accident with my first one and it had to be totalled
I gotta say though, those airbags and seatbelts work really well and I walked away with no injuries what so ever. Not even a scratch. I'm not big into adding all the mods, but I did pull all the stock speakers and replaced them with higher quality equipment, so while you may not hear my sound system from 10 miles away, it provides nice clear sound. Well, that's enough for now. But seriously if you want to learn to fly hit me up.

While i am not new here it has been a long long time so i figure i would re-introduce myself. I worked for a great chrysler/jeep dealer that got shut down during the bad times and now after a year or so i have landed at a mitsubishi dealership running the parts dept. I recently( a few days ago) purchased a 2004 red dodge neon sxt 5 speed. I will be retireing /selling my 250k mile 300m shortly after i fix a few thigns to make it sell faster.
Hi! I was raised in a dodge only home, and continue the tradition in my own home. I own a Red 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4, and a Black 2004 R/T Dodge Neon. I bought the neon used, and abused. I am actually thinking of getting an SRT 4, with lower miles and less abuse. I joined this forum to learn more about my car, and share my own knowledge, even if its only a small amount right now.... hahahah
Hey everyone, looks like I'm the newest newbie...#585..I'm 46, from Gloucester, Mass
I just picked up a 2000 Durango 4x4 4.7 for a steal (I miss my 79 powerwagon club cab) No mods on my D as of now, just running through all the miswork from a toxic prior mechanic. This one is going to get a lot of attention after the initial repairs though. At 18 I did 4 years with Ford(yuck but they paid for my education) and worked as a heavy line tech, over the years I switched to the marine industry and now hold certs with Mercury Marine, Mercruizer and Suzuki outboard...Nice site glad to be here,Looking forward.....

Hey everyone, my name is Shay and I'm 19. I live just an hour away from Detroit, MI in a pretty quaint town. I'm studying Math & CS, well into my second year of college right now, and lovin' it.
I know very little about cars, let alone making modifications. I've done a lot of reading and YouTubing, but the deepest I've gone under the hood is sparkplugs and wires. I "inherited" my Neon from my Mom, who got it used with about 20k on it. She didn't have any trouble with it except minor work and a fender bender she got into. When she handed me the keys at around 58k, the problems began. That's how I found these forums, and I'm hoping I can learn as much about my Neon as possible so I can squeeze some more life out of her!
For those interested, here are my war stories. I've got a 2004 SXT, the only modifications currently are whatever parts the guys at the shop have had to replace during repairs. So, a buddy and I were driving home from a concert that ended around 10pm, and about 30mi into the 50mi trip home we're on the highway, doing about 80-85, nothing out of the ordinary. I hear this whining noise coming from the front only when I have my foot down on the gas, it just starts all of a sudden, nothing on the way up there or earlier that week-- it sounds like a high-pitch metal-on-metal noise. Since I know nothing about cars I can't really describe it in more automotive terms, sorry
, but all I knew was that whenever I gave it any gas it would "squeal". I had the sense to pull out of traffic immediately and onto the shoulder. I put her in Park and shut off the engine, let it "cool" a minute or two (thinking it may go away...just another 20 miles!!) , then turned it back on, put it back into D, but when I gave it gas, no movement at all. Great! Turned out the transmission somehow started draining while we were driving and it totally gave out (a huge puddle of fluid under the car), the tow truck guy couldn't even get her to roll down from the truckbed when we got to the shop, he had to put it in and out of Reverse like a few dozen times to get it to "jerk" backwards and little bit. It was painful to watch the guy ruining the tranny even more. It was a horrible, expensive and sad ordeal, but I shelled out the cash and the guys at the shop were honest enough to find a used tranny from another Neon and discounted the repair. Just a few months later the radiator blew out, the fluid lines cracked or something like that they said, and another chunk of change for a new Radiator. And recently the Brake light comes on and off, I have to keep filling up the brake fluid reservoir periodically, so there's a leak somewhere I suspect, and the list of little oddities goes on!
Despite all my "trouble" (which may or may not be common?), I love my Neon, and I've done my due diligence for regular, periodic maintenance, I think I just got stuck with a bad one. The neon handles well, my family used to be Asian cars but my dad took a chance and bought himself an 06' charger and I've got the Neon, and we've both shelled out our arms and legs in repairs, yet we love our Dodges fiercely and looking into new Dodges for future cars! Some may call us foolish, some call us loyal...only time will tell!

Well, if you don't find a leak anywhere near the oil well, then I would fallow the lines well having somebody pressing the gas looking for leaks, most Likely if not the master cylinder then it will be leaking from a caliper ether at the drain or incoming connection maybe even a bad bad piston seal.
Anyways good luck and welcome.
