Default Car wont start: P1388

This is what happened yesterday:

For some reason my speedometer went crazy today. It started going from 20 to 120 then it just went to 0 after a couple of seconds. I stopped and turned the car off, turned it back on and it just stood on 0. Turned the car off and on again, started acting weird again. I took the car on the highway and it reset itself after hitting 60mph. If it happens again I'll probably be getting a srt4 cluster. Anyone ever had this problem?

This is what happened today:

Car wont even start.. got this code: P1388 Auto Shutdown Relay Control Circuit An open or shorted condition detected in the ASD or CNG shutoff relay control cicuit.

What's sad is I paid for new wheels and tires and while trying to fix it, they gave me a call and told me my wheels and tires just came in.

Car has 46550 miles .. For some reason I'm starting to think it really is my HID kit.. I'll be back, going to taka them off.

Just got it back.. morons couldn't find the problem so I took it to another shop and it was something called the ASD Relay I believe..

So does the car start without any problems now? Did they replace the ASD fuse/relay (since the ASD relay controls the alternator field voltage i believe...)?

Replaced it for a brand new one.. car starts without a problem and when it idles it jumps RPMs.. goes from 800 rpms to 1200 rpms very quickly.. sounds like I tap the gas every half a second..

wow thats wierd as hell.....you got or HAD some kinda short some where im thinking....the only thing i could even think to suggest about the weird idle is the throttle position sensor...maybe a idle position sensor??? I would get a srt-4 gauge cluster too...theyre cool and then that can help you rule out your regular cluster being screwy.

Well it could be alot of things, First and easiest I would do is go down to where the AC compressor is on the engine (engine COOL!!!) and there will be a little plug on the compressor. Take that off and see if you still have the problem. This may or may not be your problem, but it is worth a try. I had the same problem with mine but it wasnt jumping that much, where the AC was out of refrigerent and it was jumping rpms. Another thing to check is your TB positining sensor. This is right on the side of the throttle body, but it should be throwing a code if it is bad. But what I truly think it is is that one of the mechanics really screwed somthing up and your pcm needs reflashed. Take it over to a chrysler dealer and it shouldnt be too much to do. But man, you really got ripped, how much did those two mechanics charge you? You could have just swaped out the horn relay with the ASD relay in the power distribution center in about 30 seconds, and been ready to go again, O well I suppose you live and you learn. GOOD LUCK!!

1st mechanic didn't charge me a thing and the second only charged me $50..

They said that the relay that activates the fuel pump and spark when I turn the key was pretty much dead.

I"ll take a look at the TB positioning sensor ASAP..if anything i'll just take it down to the dealer..
