I have a semi-related question in concerns with oil change intervals. On a high-mileage engine (think 219K) with minimal problems, what kind of interval could I expect to get out of a quality synthetic like Quaker State Ultimate Durability? I know you guys say these trucks tend to run better on dino, but since I first bought the truck, it has seen nothing but synthetics (the dealer using Kendall GT-1 I believe, back when it had 199K). I'm probably wasting money with my current 3K interval, but I figured I'd ask fellow owners their thoughts. Thanks guys

I run Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30 with a Mobil 1 filter. If I thought the quality was worth it, I might spend more and run Amsoil or Royal Purple, but I don't see three difference being worth it. And I usually change my oil every 5k miles.

M1 EP is good oil for sure (I've had great luck with it in the Ram when I used to run it). Not too keen on the price of RP though, considering the additive packs in the major brands are typically sufficient enough for proper wear prevention. I've been sticking with the Mopar filters, pretty good so far, but if I did decide to switch I'd probably go with a Purolator PureOne, which is what I ran in my Grand Prix when I had it. 5K OCI sounds reasonable definitely......

Yeah, I actually started using Mobil 1 because it just happened to be on sale that day, but about a month after using it, I noticed that my mpg was about 1.5 mpg higher than when i had last changed it so I stuck with Mobil 1 since then.

Rotella 15w-40 diesel mix. Has a high ZDPP content that helps clean engine soot. That make it a diesel oil because it destroys gas catalytic converters. I have none, so I no care

Unrelated to the Ram forum, but I run Valvoline Synthetic Blend 5w20 in my avenger at 48k miles and she loves it.

Btw if anyone has any questions about Valvoline's oils, I'm a Certified Technician for Valvoline.

Oh, and those who are saying Mobil 1 is the better oil... we just bought out every corporate owned Mobil 1 in Florida last December. We have been around over 140 years. We must be doing something right...
