I use Rotella T triple protection 15 w-40 in my diesel and change every 7 K and have had no issues. When I first got the truck, never owning a diesel before was told the oil had just been changed. I got home checked the dip stick and the oil was black as could be and thought that I had been lied to. So I changed the oil, the oil coming out smelt new and good lubricity. After I put the new oil in and started it up to fill the new oil filter, and checked the oil level, the new oil was already black as what I just drained. So I agree with what was previously stated. 7000 miles is good and maybe even longer, with the ultra low sulfur diesel, the oil will last longer.

I use Mobil one synthetic is the Camo Beast. I shifted to full synthetic at 20 K and now have 178 K and she's still running strong.

eew rosmella!

it's good oil...just smells bad lol.

I run castrol GTX 10w-30 in the S10.

as for filters: ACDelco in the S10, and mopar filter in the cummins.

btw: walmart sells mopar/cummins OEM filters for only $1 more than their cheapest filters there...

Fleetguard is a great choice as well for the cummins since fleetguard is now the new OEM filter provider since cummins bought out the company.

they are changing the name to cummins filtration, but still known as fleetguard for now.

I have ran fleetguard fuel filters and pre-filter separators in the cummins before cummins even bought them out.

Default Engine Oil soup to nuts

^Thanks Jigabop, these past threads are very helpful to owners of gas or diesel Dodges (and even Chebbies) for engine oil, and filters. Appreciate it! K.

edit: boils down to Rotella 15w-40 my diesel, Castrol GTX or Valvoline for my gassers. Fleetguard for my diesel filter and ACDelco gasser filters.

The Pennzoil Platnums and Ultras I'll do dome research on.

Always used Valvoline in my Ram. It's what my parents run in all their vehicles, and they've never had to replace an engine in anything, and they usually run a car until it has at least 200k miles. My mom's Buick right now has over 320k, never ran anything but Valvoline, or Valvoline MaxLife.

The Denali I picked up had its last oil change at a Walmart, and they put Pennzoil in it

I have been using Mobil 1 in the 318 add a little oil once a month. Haven't felt like getting around to fixing the belly pan on the keg. But now that I have a spare keg I'll get to it soon.

Our diesel & gas prices just took a nice little dip. Diesel $3.77 per gallon road use, 87 Octane $3.54 per gallon. K.

Rotating tires today also.

Changed the oil to some Castrol Edge Titanium 5w30 with a Quaker State O/F. Going to do the grease fittings once I find my grease gun. Also tidied up the interior (lots of pollen) I think I will be doing a long haul in the next few weeks, to move for work. Glad it only takes one bed load for me to move, right now!

lol, wow, if I brought the absolute basics, the cab would do, but I like my entertainment and tools too much to leave behind or sell.
