The right side I found enough pieces to bridge the gap.
The left side is a different story... I’ve got a few decent sized pieces to put together, but as I glue them up, they’re breaking in other places... it’s like a block of crumbly cheese... look at it sideways and it falls apart... in just one section, what started as 3pcs soon became 7... and I’m not seeing enough pieces of any consequence to finish it off... there may be pieces trapped in behind that I haven’t found yet... fingers crossed.
Once I get enough to bridge all the gaps and get the dash pad mounting points, I’ll take it out and reinforce the back... lots of reinforcing.
Also pulled the cowl, cleaned it up, and painted it.
Then scuffed the shiny plastic of the cabin air filters, and painted them.
And at the end of the day, installed them.
They’re a snug fit to the underside of the hood, so I think I’m going to put some teflon tape on the underside of the hood so it doesn’t chafe.

Looks good, spillage. I wonder if getting a whole dash from the junkyard would be warranted? I mean if you have to mend so many pieces than maybe it's an option?

I tried to find a heater box locally so I could rebuild it ahead of time, but nobody has 2nd Gen’s around here... “they’re too old”.
Also, I could be no better off with what I find.
Right now I think I have enough to make it work... between the reinforcement I plan putting in the back and the new pad in front, it should be ok... the pad will support the frame;-)

Yes, from Geno’s.
I don’t mind the look... and if it’ll keep leaves out of my fan, I’ll take it.
Can’t comment on the effectiveness of the carbon filter (smell reduction) until I get the heater box back in.
I had to trim the bottom edge a bit to get back to the mold line, so the edge looked finished... other than that, the fit is ok.
As I said earlier, it is right up against the underside of the hood, so I suspect it will chafe the paint... hence my plan to put some Kapton tape on the back edge of the hood.

I thought about getting them but I was worried about water soaking the filters

It’s a nylon, kind of like a scotch-brite consistency.
Whilst it will get wet, the water will drain to the bottom and drip into the trough under the cowl (where rain presently goes).
Not being porous, I don’t think it will hold much water for long... it should dry quickly.
I’ll be sure to update you on any issues.
