Finally pulled the bed. My plan is to clean up the frame, re-bush the springs, replace shocks, upgrade the brakes to 3rd gen, and anything else that looks iffy. I'm going to get rid of the gooseneck hitch too. I've never used it in the 15 years I've owned the truck and it's pretty rusty compared to the rest of the frame. Ignore the extra spring. I was checking fit.
Comments, suggestions, and ridicule always appreciated.
Decided to lift the bed off the old Cummins the other day. Much better than draining 30 gallons of diesel. Waiting on a new fuel pump and MaxTow 0-30 gauge and pod setup. 8 bolts and it's off Inexpensive pump to be replaced Off she comes Test ports with caps Test ports without cap

Looking good. How did you lift the bed off,?
What year is the truck?

It's an 01 with 165k on it. My neighbors came over and we lifted on to sawhorses in the garage. I have it down to the bare frame now so the fun can begin.
Got this photo back from the shop who did the work today. What did I do? I paid for it. The plan was keeping center of gravity as low as possible for when I'm carrying a camper..I like how it came out.
