Thanks, yep those are the new wheels for the truck. Over the next week this diff swap should be finished, pix then for sure. All the front diff needs is a coat of Por-15 and its ready to go under the truck.Originally Posted by Matt Nickerson

Try pounding that bolt out using a punch first from the underside, it might just pop out. You should be able to find a plug for that hole at a parts or plumbing store or just use an old sensor to fill it.
Record Breaker
Speaking of por15, I por15'd my door bottoms a while ago due to rusting.. Checked it a few weeks ago and it has not held up at all. Followed instructions/prep work but it apparently didn't hold. Still got extra marine clean though, worked nicely to clean up the intake manifold.

email me when you get it finished and let me know about the ds length! im thinking about selling the d70 to get a 60. we have(or should have) the same length driveshafts as our trucks are both ex cab short beds.Originally Posted by merc225hp

heres a pic of the step down.

i have not "raced" any hemis yet, however i do know that i can keep up with the ford 6.2 gas motors. they supposedly have 395hp, 410tq, at the crank.

Merc,
Put your good work into it's own thread already!
Really dislike having to go look around for it....
That 60 will be just fine for ya. Glad you're making progress. I did at least get a quote from a couple shops for doing arb/gear install. I'm just not feeling like doing it.
I giving serious thought to 2 piece DS so that the angle avoids the rocks. Anyone got thoughts on that? Yeah, I'd have to move my 5g tank.

New Black Iron Outcast Wheels 16x8.5 8 bolt.

60 all cleaned up and painted with Por-15, great stuff. Still need to change out the shoes and wheel cylds, make new hardlines as well.

There are NO combination u joints for this swap (7290 to 1410) and the 9.25 yoke will NOT fit a Dana 60 close but not close enough. So far it looks like no ds mod's are needed, but I will find out more over this weekend, all by tape measure so far, time will tell.New Black Iron Outcast Wheels 16x8.5 8 bolt.

That's because your doors rust out from the inside. The drain holes plug up, so moisture is trapped in the door. Door rusts out. Both of mine did the same thing. I have replaced the drivers door..... have another set of doors as well, but, I want to get them cleaned up, and painted the same color as the truck before installation. (truck is black, doors are white, the replacement drivers door on the truck now is red.....)Originally Posted by Matt Nickerson

I never bothered with the marine clean, I just did my typical prep, wipe it down with lacquer thinner, wash with a good APC and wipe dry, paint. The test will be this winter if I drive it, but so far it seems very tuff.Originally Posted by Matt Nickerson

Mine is in at 60" weld to weld, the 9.25 from the axle centerline to u joint center is 11.75" and the 60 is 13.25" difference of 1.5" I need to see how much slip I have in the upper slip-yoke to see if I can use my DS without cutting it or find a 2500 58" DS or one like yours. For my swap your DS would be just about right.Originally Posted by redneck_ram

Is there even enough DS length to split up? To me having a two piece DS is just adding more failure points and a good old hanger/steady bearing to the mix.Originally Posted by Wh1t3NuKle
