exactly what i was thinking. and (although im 22) xmas is coming so I may ask for "money to fix my truck". Luckily my family will understand, my father and grandfather keep vehicles until they die, usually a snapped timing chain by the time it will cost more to fix than the car is worth, eg. 89 jeep comanchee 4.0 v6 200k + miles, 92 cherokee 4.0 v6 250k + miles (got a raise and bought a 99 new just as the tranny was about to let go), and a 89 mazda 626 4 banger my dad got for 500 bucks and put another 200,000 miles on before he snapped the chain and bend a few (almost all) valves, and my mom's 97 caravan with 180k+ city miles (tranny went).

I'm also pricing gears, dont want anything too big and bad (my truck is our road trip car) maybe 4.10s as the biggest thing i pull is a bedload of sod once every few years and my R6 in the bed. and new tires.
