Been a busy week on my '95 - new cat, front wheel hubs, and a total tune-up. Had to get it ready for annual inspection and emissions testing. Passed with flying colors - not bad for an original engine and tranny with 413k on them.

The grandfather and I took the Ram down to Chapel Hill, NC to pickup a old 1965 (think) Yamaha 650 Motorcycle.

It was my grandfather's best friends bike, he died recently, so his wife gave it to him. The bike has just over 6k ORIGINAL miles on it.

George bought it new, in Wisconsin I think, the plate on the bike is Wisconsin, 1979

His wife didn't like it, so he left it in his backyard, and it laid on it's side for nearly 31 years.

It will need work, most expensive I would think is the carburetors, both are missing.

Edit:

I forget to mention this but, while on the road today I noticed that even with all the weight in the bed, with overdrive ON and the Rpm's in the 2k range or higher, it has a LOT of giddy up and go, seems like more so then that same rpm range with overdrive OFF.

Found out my truck doesn't like going WOT from 60-85 mph in a hurry. Hit 5k RPM and the A/C shut off and I got this strange burning smell, like something caught fire. Kept smelling it so I pulled over, nothing was burning, no smoke no smell when I popped the hood. Weird. I am wondering if the a/c compressor made the belt slip like mad or something. Also, even with a fixed plenum and 3923's, my engine will ping when it hits 4500 rpm but stops at 5k. Oops.
Damn 100+ degree outside temps.

Had a similar smell on mine in November and could not find the source. Got home and next day discovered that the clutch on AC burned up.

No CEL....after about 60 miles of driving.

Apparently a log decided to leave it's presence in the last 1/8 mile exiting the Rubicon trail.

Lots of kudos from ppl on the trail. "You're brave bringing that thing in here!"

Oh hell.
Well, I have driven it a bit since this, and will be driving it today. So I will be able to see if it still works.
