Just make sure you shift properly, don't do like my friend did which is shift while pedaling from a standing start.

I didn't know what he did until I went to ride it a week later and it was jumping gears, turns out he managed to split a link.

Oh, I thought you were joking. Sorry. Yes that is bad. My bike downshift whenever you step on the pedal hard from standstill.
