TBH, I like yield signs more, you don't have to come to a full stop if no one is coming. Brilliant idea to me.
Never thought about the "environmental impact" of stops signs, granted, it's not like I care about that part.

People will always be idiots, we can't change what they do, but we CAN control what we do, so that we don't add to the number of idiots. Out on the country roads out here, many times a stopsign is placed at the top of a hill, and in the winter time it becomes dangerous to stop entirely, you may not be able to get started, or may slide into a ditch trying to stop or accelerate, and YES THAT HAS HAPPENED. That's why basically everybody in the wintertime ignores the stop sign, they treat it as a yield sign, and so only slow down at the sign, and BTW the law enforcement does that too, seen em...
To the point of the OP, yes tech I agree completely with the article. Nothing gets me more frustrated then stop signs every damn corner! Its pointless and you think the enviro-tards would be all over it... The brits have it done perfect IMO.
Law enforcement in my town sucks. I watch them routinely drive the wrong way down roads, turn around corners that are posted not to and let people away with all kinds of crap.... Heck ive watched people drive the wrong way down the road by the cops and they just sit n watch...

Take the roundabout junction for example.
In Ottumwa, there is a major junction where many accidents happened. They put a roundabout in it, and the number of accidents and the severity immediately dropped, just like it did down under in Australia.
Several years ago all the four-way stops in my area were replaced with round-abouts as in the UK. It sure confused the heck out of people for a while but they were the same ones who would stop at a four-way and have no clue who should go first.
I wonder since Brits drive opposite over there, if their "stop" signs say "go" instead?

I find them to be annoying. And think there pretty useless
but at the same time. If we don't have em it might cause more problems. Or just do a better job at in forcing the law.
I do like yield signs myself

Very true point, but IMO if they added some type of law enforcement at these roundabouts, even those people would be much safer. IMO if people think there will be enforcement there, they will either behave there or avoid it entirely, lowering accident rates. Not saying that will entirely remove the problem, just lower the rate.
