thinking about the auto tranny issues, if you ask to somebody from Cuyama for a reliable transmission shop, they answer for what? the reason is because people here keeps their cars for many years and only driving long distances, the valley is like 60 miles flat road, the closest town is 30 miles, next one is 65,oposite side is the beach at 65miles, maybe that's why the transmissions last longer, oh and the town is 3 small streets so no to much city driving here
i don't know if i should be happy or scared. i just went out to try taking some of the bolts out of my exhaust manifolds and all the bolts were loose and a couple of them had worked there way out a tiny bit.
Just got home from running garbage to the transfer station. The truck sure sounds good with one of the exhaust pipes off of the downpipe, but it is much too loud because it exits right in front of the cab lolol...
I'll have it welded then it'll be fixed permanently.
Sure is fun to drive the Dodge though.
Changed manual transmission fluid today, was a dark brown, but no metal shavings. The synchros were starting to make a little more noise with it and it was full so I just changed it figuring the fluid needed it. Much smoother now, but we will see how long that lasts. Next time it gets Amsoil. I also need to change transfer case fluid but I didn't have enough fluid or the time to do it today.

2500HD is lighter in physical weight, that's why it is cheaper. Stupid but true, it's all about paying for the roads.

Overpriced garbage?
No, most people run Amsoil in them, I just couldn't get it fast enough so I bought Mopar synthetic, the same stuff they came with from the factory, but I'm suspicious my trans is getting hotter than that fluid likes, not overheating mind you, but the Mopar fluid can't handle as much.
And just for future note to those who might read this: NEVER EVER EVER for ANY REASON use Mobils stuff for the NV4500 UNLESS IT IS A DIRE EMERGENCY, change it out ASAP for Amsoil or Mopar.

I would go for a Ford first if I could find one in the right price range, but this Dodge is just 20 miles away from me, at a reputable Dodge dealer. I've got a notion I could get a good deal trading the Ford in because they are a Dodge dealer and having such a nice-looking Ford on their lot would be too tempting to the salesman. Seriously.
Correction: It has 186K on it, and a manual transmission.
Tires have fairly good tread on them
The engine is VERY clean for around here

other than the lack of 4x4, that is a grail truck! (98 12v) very highly sought after since it has the late second gen interior and rear door updates, plus the P-pumped 12v. p7100 injection pumps are highly sought after.
