hopefully it gets fixed as the cummins section being all f'ed up is rather annoying. kinda weird how the cummins general discussion area is fine but tech part is all bugged out... and its not just me lol...all my computers have the issue and other guys posting there have that issue as well...
Cumminsforum never works for me. Lol. Logs me out every 5 minutes. Probably my problem though. MAybe it's because I don't have a cummins... (Yikes!)

That's why I'm over at Mopar1973Mans forum for everything Cummins.

I'm 17.8 and 0 tickets and 0 accidents.

As far as a 5.2 goes, mine is a turd for acceleration too, and it's got some nice extras on it too. The NV4500 gearing isn't quite right for 3.55s IMO, or maybe where my power bands are with 3.55s. My 5.2 will hold speeds up a hill like no other though even when towing, acceleration is a bit hard.

I'm suspicious mine is a fueling issue related to the carb, gotta rebuild it and re jet it and get the right combination of parts in it. Then we will see how much better it can smoke tires.

I actually never had one done on my truck. How much does one of those run?

And will a comp cam work with my HS 1.7 roller rockers? I saw another guy that created a thread not too long ago about some comp cam on summit. He said it increased mpg and power.

So maybe that would work? I'm getting a 50mm tb sometime too for some help on power.

It's time you do a comp test, tester costs about $30. A wideband 02 can vary in price from say $150 and up. Yes with the right cam it will work good with the 1.7 , max lift for you would be in the .460 range maybe a little under or more. I would have to check it out for you. I'll go pick a cam and pm that info to you. I know the 5.2 has a bigger cam than the 5.9 so I need to see what that cams specs are as well.

Anyone correct me if I am wrong, but IIRC 50mm TB won't help a lot on low end power.

A better option IMO would be to remove the air horns and do some work on your current TB.

The 50mm TB is a supporting mod usually, especially for the 318s. The 318s, only a 50mm is recommended, whereas the 360s can use a 52mm TB.

That's essentially what a 50mm is. Below the butterflies are already 50 but above they're 47. You can bore them out yourself if you want.

A 50 shouldn't lose bottom end. 52 likely would, depending on supporting mods

The 50mm throttle body is suited for the 5.2L engine, which the 52mm is suited for the 5.9L engine.

Doing some port & polish work on the heads will help the low-end as well in addition to the performance throttle body along with cutting down the intake runners.

With his mods already and a cam the 50mm should not take away any lower end.

I might get the tester or see if I can borrow one but i'll wait on the wideband o2. But alright sounds good, thanks merc!

Yeah I heard good about that fastman 50mm throttle body so that's what i'm shooting for. But I doubt i'll do port and polish or anything with the intake runners just because labor would be a lot probably, haha.

I'm doing my 4.56s hopefully when I get my taxes back. That'll take pretty much the whole amount too with both front/rear kits and them major overhaul kits or whatever they're called.

I think if I got a cam, 50mm throttle body, and 4.56s I might stand a chance against them Nissan Frontiers.
