The Official 2nd Gen RAM Forum OT thread
I agree with you. Getting rid of the law REQUIRING IT, is a step backwards. But then, those with the money, get to make the rules.
I picked up an issue of diesel power because they were doing a comparison of the new 1\2 ton diesel ram and the Cummins. The used a 4wd crew cab for both trucks. The Eco had 3.55 gears, Cummins with 3.42. The ecodiesel got 28.5 mpg at 75mph, the Cummins got just under 20. They also did a towing test, with a 7k lb trailer and the Eco got 19.5 mpg while towing. Personally, I thought that was pretty impressive. What I didn't find impressive was the fact that 7k pounds is actually over the tow capacity for the truck, it was only rated for 6700.
Dyno numbers at the wheel: 325 ftlb @ about 3150rpm, 202hp @ about 3500. Cummins: 657@ 2350, 319hp @ 2700. Testing was done at sea level with 15% load applied.

probably make 35mpg in my S10 with that motor!
I am curious what the hemi in the same configuration gets. Everyone was knocking the eco because it wasn't going to be worth the extra cost. I consider a Hemi getting 20 on the highway good, and even so the Eco would put it to shame mileage wise.
