Friend of mine that does the tree thing for a living, says looking at the core, it appears to be some variety of Oak... but, without seeing one of the leaves, can't be entirely sure.

Oak has smoother bark though, doesn't it? Well oak maple or elm all of those are good burners.

I was just wondering what it was.... According to the web Poison Oak grows on the West Coast.

I've cut lots of Red and White Oak, this is some strange oak if it is... Softer then white oak, green core and milk white wood.

Well if it is somewhat soft and has a milky white look.. I Know what it is.. It is the very common Morning wood.. Any time this is experienced just beat it down with a boot and continue on with your day
