Try setting up a MikroTik Groove.
There was a thunder storm over the house while I was lawn mower shopping (long story, well you know it) and the wife called up and said the house was hit by lightning. After which we had no internet.
So after I get home I check out what's going on with the www, the Groove is completely unresponsive, and the computer by the router wasn't talking to the router anymore.
After several different tests I determined the Groove was dead. Luckily I had 2 spares, so after I programmed the new Groove I had to replace the router too, it was fried too.
It's been a crappy day.

It receives the wireless signal from the Wireless Access Point.
Wireless Internet bro!
The -61 and -63 are my average signal strength numbers. The bigger the negative -60 to -50 etc... the better the signal, too much signal and you can literally fry the radio.
We have some customers that are so close to the AP's that we have to install the radio's in the house, to avoid TOO much signal.

We could get faster connection speeds, but my dad doesn't want to pay for it.

Ours isn't bad, it just extremely annoying when the cable company is doing work and they don't notify their customers.
