Would this be a good base for getting my truck running ( current 5.2 is tired) and be a good candidate for future mods like a cam and roller rockers. Basically I'm wondering if this this is a quality motor and a good price. I would throw it in my truck with a dual plane intake and carb.

I would not carb it.

Never heard of engine builder on site you referenced. Just make sure they are reputable.

No it's not terribly pricey. I can get a longblock for $1500 at my engine supplier, including my discount.

Yes, get a running 5.9L longblock from a salvage yard. Would be around $500-$800, and it'll run from the start. Then when you want to do major mods such as cam etc, just put new bearings in (they have compression between 135 and 150, so still pretty good and no need for rings). And they'll have under 130K miles on them. I'll PM you details.

You might want to read through this thread. Pick another shop.

Removing a multi port injection system to replace it with a carb is all kinds of stupid.

Hmm. Quibbling? I said "seems pricey" and you state not terribly - with your discount.....

For here, I think it is pricey. But like everything, local markets can vary considerably.
