$500 for an alternator?
I paid that for the shop yanking my plenum out and replacing it.

 

I think that's $500 for alternator and install.

 

I would not doubt if it's just for the alternator. Freaking Cadillac parts are expensive.

 

According to the CarQuest website the alternator is a squeak over $200.

but if I gotta take parts off, then take your spark plugs out or just the coil(s)

diesel can run without a turbo. just runs pretty smokey without as much power...few nitrous bottles or a couple superchargers can make a turbo unnecessary though

 

Your amount of fuel with no turbo/s would melt pistons in record time
