Read that page it automatically goes to. If you notice they used two different types of PCMs in 1998, 1998.5 being the changing point for both the 24valve diesel and the Magnum PCMs. That's why many tuners don't support pre 1998 Magnums as they use a different computer. That's also why there is no performance Mopar PCM for the Magnum V8s after 1997 (until the Hemi replaced the Magnum).

Granted, 96's didn't have Torque management...

One thing these 2nd gen PCMs didn't have that Ford had back in the late 80s was a highway mode. Even our big Ford has it, although it won't work until we get our ECU fixed...
Edit: No offense meant dodge_dude. I was j/k... It was just kinda funny cuz the book said JTEC came in 1996 (unless you didn't read that page) and I've verified JTEC came in most 1996 models.

No stupid lol... They introduced JTEC in 1996.5 (models with one upstream O2 were a OBD1 PCM with a OBD2 interface, those weren't all JTEC, although I have been able to verify that 5.9L single upstream O2s used a JTEC PCM, like mine does), not 1998. But I will agree that they have a more retarded tune in the pre 1998 models.
