Miles per gallon- What are you getting?
Last posted to this thread in July of last year. Since that time, I've done alot of work to the engine. Top end overhaul in September to replace cracked heads and new timing chain. After that work was done I was getting around 11 MPG and was disappointed with that since I'd hoped my mileage would increase with the work I had done. No such luck here!
A few months ago I changed the cat conv to a Magnaflow unit, and added a 3" Flowmaster Muff. I think my mileage actually went down a little bit with this change.
Yesterday I changed the TB unit with one of the modified TB units from Fastman. On a 240 mile drive, I got 13.2 mpg!!! Just from changing the TB unit.
One more change in store for the coming weeks is putting on a set of Gibson Headers to go with my exhaust upgrades. We'll see what happens then.

as soon as i hit solid 15's ill be happy!!! im thinking some 1.7 RR's will do the trick just right!
i bet if i ran the 93 program and 93 octane i would be in the high 15's almost 16's but it wouldnt be constant since i almost always run 89

I bought a 1998 dodge Ram 1500 5.9 back in January. So far I have tinted the windows and put flowmaster 40 Series on. This weekend I will be installing my Superchip power programmer. Does anyone know the difference if you run premium with this programmer? Will i get better gas mileage with premium? I am trying to decide if i want to switch to premium or not because around here in St. Louis it is $2.90
I have a 2001 Ram Sport/Off-Road with the 318 in it and I get about 9-10, if Im lucky maybe 11 or 12. Why is it that I get worse gas milage then other trucks like mine, and the 5.9s? It doesnt make any sense to me at all.
Do you have any mods 01RamSport? What size tires do you have? Do you know what gears you have? Also have you even had the catylitic converter replaced?
Oh yeah how many miles on her?
