Miles per gallon- What are you getting?
I'm new here and this thread interests me.
My '96 Ram Ext Cab 2wd, 5.2, A4, has 106,000 on it and I've owned it for eleven years. Only repair has been an o2 sensor. It has averaged 16 mpg overall, with a maximum of 18 mpg obtained several times on the highway when speeds don't exceed 65 mph. I recently took a 160 mile trip to Asheville (NC mountains) with a basic camper shell and roughly 1000 pounds in the bed. The speed on the Interstates was roughly 70-75 the whole way (75 most of the time). This was UP the mountain. Obtained 17 mpg.
I'm looking for an ECU module that can help mileage, but it sounds like my truck ain't bad at all.
It used to require higher octane to avoid hot weather ping, but a swap to Splitfire plugs, new wires and cap, seemed to cure that. Now it only needs regular. My mods are a K&N FIPK and a Flowmaster exhaust. I use Pennzoil Platinum 10W30 synthetic and AMSOIL oil filters.

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad cab 4x4 360v8. Had the Limited slip differential added as an option, I believe the gears are 4.10. I get 14 miles to the gallon City/highway not towing on regular gas.
I run Premium fuel when towing and I get 8 miles to the gallon towing 15,000 pounds of weight. It's not great milage but it's consistant.
187,000 miles on the truck and still running.

1995 Ram 1500 Laramie SLT, 4x4, 318V8, 5 speed. i get about 16 in the city, and about 18 on the highway. I got a locker in the rear, LSD in the front (for mudding purposes). But the reason my mileage is so high, is that i got the 35 gallon tank, so my tank can get up to 600 miles, so even with a day of beating on it, i can drive easy the next couple and even it tou. definitely get a 5 speed for better mileage.
I get around 13mpg around town and no idea what I get on the highway. I did get a little better before I had my PCM reflashed to eliminate TCC lock-up in third gear and no lock-up until 52mph in OD. It is worth it though when you are driving on the back-roads, the truck pulls so much better without all the shifting. Also, before it wouldn't shift out of 1st at WOT without letting up on the pedal, now it will shift by itself at around 4800 rpm.
Was getting 10. Then found out that they throttle body gasket was MIA. Replaced it and the plenum gasket.
found out that the idiots at walmart under inflated my tires: load range E 80 PSI tire on 50 PSI rim and they inflated them at 35 PSI
After all of that getting about 17 MPG mix city and highway
13X,XXX miles on her now and still rolls on
