Miles per gallon- What are you getting?
Just got my 99 1500 quad cab 4x4 5.2 and got 15.5 to 16 on the hwy (bought it in maine and drove to south carolina next day). It does have a k+N filter and 265 AT tires. If you figure in the actual miles traveled (245 stock vs 265) was alot closer to 17. Not to bad but am considering a TB spacer and maybe a cold air intake plus synthetic in diferentials.
-----the only accurate way to check is fill up, reset the trip meter and the next time you fill up divide the miles by the gallons.
Here is what I do when I want to figure out what I get on the highway. I tank up till it wont take no more. Then I drive 25 miles in 1 direction. I drive at normal speeds - or normal to me - I hit the turn around and drive 25 miles back. I go right to the gas station and fill up at the same pump and try my best to get the same amount of gas in it. Then I do the math. I find this useful when I change tire sizes and see if its really worth regearing the rear end. If I only lose a small amount overall I dont bother. Most likely I dont need to drive 50 miles over all but its a nice number...
Good luck

Ok so please excuse my ignorance as i am brand spanking new at this.. is there anyway to increase your mpg without making your truck sound like a garbage disposal by using the bigger exhaust.. not to offend, i just don't prefer it with a sleeping baby in tote=)

Yup flowmaster 50 series
K&N cold intake
Fastman Throttle body
tune up with cap plugs and rotor and wires.
buy the correct tires for your truck.
keep them aired up to correct psi
shorty headers
maybe mds ignition.
high flow cat
that should keep you broke for awhile
