01 Ram 1500 4x4 offroad with the 360 (5.9)...10.5 average (according to digital gauge overhead)

 

1999 Ram 1500 I get 10.5 mpg. thats after an 8k mile average. Only mods are flowmaster dual exhuast and K&N stage II intake. Ive put those miles on in under 5 months. Do the math on the money Ive spent only on gas. average of $2.09 per gallon.

5.9L/360 CI

I just fixed the plenum gasket this past weekend (that wasn't fun). While I did that I also did a 180 T-stat, new distributor cap, rotor and MSD 8.5 wires. I've recently done a conversion over to electric fans out of an LS1 Camaro.

I want to say I am seeing about 15-17 MPG, but I won't know until I fill it up once the light turns on.

 

I have a Ram '98 5.2 litre. I am getting a lousey 15mpg. Isn't that terrible?????? extended cab if that makes any difference. Just 2 wheel drive too........what is the deal????

I have a 2000 Ram 1500 Sport 4x2 with 5.9L (360ci) engine and automatic transmission. I have added cold air intake, low temp thermostat, aftermarket exhaust (headers, cat delete, glasspack mufflers), jet computer programmer, and trans shift kit. I was previously running 265/75R16 with an aggressive snow/mud tread pattern.

Gas mileage: 8-10 mpg City / 13-15 mpg Highway

When I had to replace the tires about 10 months ago I went back with stock 245/75R16 regular street tread tires.

Gas mileage: 10-12 mpg City / 15-18 mpg Highway

The tire width and tread alone made a large difference in my gas mileage.

As you all know it all depends on your driving style. When driving from Ruidoso, NM to Lubbock, TX I was averaging about 90+ mph (not alot of traffic or towns on that stretch of road). I averaged about 13 mpg on that highway trip.

But, I once had to follow my Dad from Lubbock,TX to south of Dallas,TX (about 6 hour drive going 70 mph). My Dad was pulling a 40 foot gooseneck with a large John Deere and International tractor on the trailer behind our old farm truck (83 ford f-250 4x4 w/ 460ci). The rear tractor was slightly hanging off the trailer so we drove carefully at a whopping 55 mph the whole trip. On that trip I averaged 21 mpg. Nice gas mileage, but not worth the extra time it takes driving that slow.

I think the Rams get comparable gas mileage to anything else in there class.

 

I forgot to add that I also have a hard fiberglass bed cover on my truck. That helps out on the fuel economy as well.

 

1996 1500 5.9 4x4 ext cab single exhaust with thrush glasspack I average 13mpg wish it was better since i am driving it from ny to az towing my 86 turbo z any advice to boost it up a lil better

 

1998 Ram, std Cab, long bed, 4x4 5.9 automatic... 285/75/16s and get 10mpg
