Ummm, your mpg calc is low if you got 300 miles on a tank. Roughly running the needle all the way down to the last line will be about 22-23gal. So even using 23 gallons over 300 miles that's a solid 13mpg.Originally Posted by Nereaga

I went through a full tank in 3 days of non-stop hauling over the mountain. I have til November 30 to get a 4 bdrm house of stuff and enough building supplies to build a new 2700 sf house out of here. So, I'll be using a few more tanks of gas the next week and a half.

I ran it down to the E line, hanging on it. I know I shouldn't do this, but wanted to see how much I could squeeze out of it.
. With running it that low how much could be left? A gallon or so?

Ok, here it goes, I'm going to test which grade of fuel, 87, 89, or 91 Octane with the 10% ethanol, does better. If I find an ethanol free station I will try that too. Yes they are still out there.
My driving is 23miles one way to work, 10miles of which are rural roads, 10 miles highway and 3 miles city. I plan on doing the posted speed limits as much as I can. And use some tips and tricks of driving I've acquired. I will stop and fill up as soon as the fuel light comes on, topping off the first time the pump stops, instead of squeezing the extra dollar in it.
First fill up is 91 octane. Stay tuned!!!

just finished up a Huges plenum fix before that I was getting 11.5 to 10.2 depending on the amount of lead in foot. Haven't checked yet but appears gas gage stays on the full side a little longer. 2000 short box 4x4 auto with a 5.9

I am getting between 11 and 13 mpg with my 5.9 1996. I am not complaining, it is better than my 1975 Blazer (350 4speed standard) that I was driving before. Would like to have a standard, just don't like autos, mainly because I don't know anything about them and am old fashion. And old.
