Miles per gallon- What are you getting?
96 Ram 1500 5.9 on back roads recently (gravel and blacktop) 13.74 MPG, In city I seem to get a little over 10 MPG. 166,000 miles, has new plugs, rotor, dist cap, wires, cleaned TB. Runs smooths, guess I am about average, don't know much about Dodge, only had for a little over 1 month.
Morning eveyone just purchased a 2012 ST Automatic 4x4 crew cab Long box. I have 100 miles on her. Any tips on breaking her in correctly for good diesel mileage?
Just totaled my 2001 quad cab 4x4 that I delivered solid hardwood flooring with for 11 years with 350,000 miles on her and still ran amazing with a basic edge chip. Orginal engine and auto trans.
Please advise I received a great value on th 2012.
Thanks!!!

My 98 remains mired in the 15.5-16 mpg range, but I've been hauling a lot of equipment and water tanks in the 2000-2400# range. On a better note, the wife's 08 Ram got 23.2 mpg the last fillup. That's from mileage/gallons, not the display, which is showing 21 point something.
I am ecstatic beyond words. I averaged 13.9 mpg hauling 7-8K lb trailer loads of building supplies over the mountain to my property. I am in the process of moving to my new place 27 miles from here, 19 miles of which is 3-7% grades. The Uhaul trailer was 1760 # empty on the trip back home. I intentionally drove very slowly, 35 mph on the steeper parts in 2nd gear and 45 mph the rest of the way when loaded and 50-55 mph empty. I am madly in love with my Ram right now. And, to **** some people off, that's pulling a GVW of 13-14k lbs in my Ram with 171K miles on the original transmission. So, SUCK IT anyone who thinks these trucks are crap. Go buy a Ford, Chevy or Toyota and see what a real piece of crap is. Good day.
^^ Lmao
I did some math on last tank and got about 300 miles outta of it. So about 11.5. I just like the sound of the exhaust,
can't get near 13+ mpg. Still love this truck and only will let her go for a srt8...

Yeah, if I drive "normally" it drops pretty bad. That's why I granny her. Next time I read what a POS the 46RE is, I'm gonna get pissed and respond less than nicely. I have put 63k HARD miles on my truck-108k when I bought it 5 years ago. I have all the maintenance records from the first owner, from new, so I know every last detail of what was done to the truck and it's the stock tranny. "46RE's can't pull a heavy load up a grade-they'll burn up"-bullsh*t! "They will have to be rebuilt by 150k if you're lucky"-bullsh*t! "Dodge can't make a decent transmission"-bullsh*t!
