No, my loss is going to be about $900.00 from what I have seen to replace this defective dash.

If you expect a vehicle to never have any problems, you're living in a dream world.

A dashboard, while somewhat expensive to replace for an interior item, is a far lesser problem compared to most.

Do you have enough dash left to buy a plastic dash cover from coverlaymfg.com or genosgarage.com and have it stick? A cosmetic defect is a lot better to deal with than an engine defect.

Yeah and there is no guarantee that the new dash won't do the same thing. You're better off just putting a dash cover over it. That will save you $800 and you can't even tell that the cover is there.

My 2000 dash cracked 5 years ago. Almost nothing left of it now. First, last, and only Dodge I will ever buy.
Do you really think any other truck is going to be any better? At my shop we have a 97 Ford F350, I hit a pothole (Lovely Chicago roads) and the entire passenger side of the dash board literally fell onto the lap of the passeger. All of the mounting brackets are plastic, and all are fatigued and broken. Funny thing is when the dash fell it jammed the shifter in Drive, could not remove the key from the ignition, and the dash bezel was rubbing against the steering wheel. We literally had to duct tape the dash to the windshield to hold it up to be able to drive it back to the shop. Jumped into another Ford truck and checked the dash, If you lift up on the passenger side, it would raise 3 to 4 inches. At least with the Dodge its only cosmetic and the dash structure is held together with Steel.

BTW I've owned 3 99 Rams, and have never had a crack on any of the dashboards. Quad cab door rust is another issue[:@]but NOTHING lasts forever.
