2001 Dashboard Cracks
hello Guys I have to say That I agree that dodge should do something to help those of us who have cracked dashboards I mean mind is cracked in three places from the windshield all the way to the tip of the dash edge. very disappointing since i do take care to keep it from doing that and it still happened.
I know my truck is a 95 but my dash just cracked out of nowhere the other day. It is right in the drivers side from the middle of the guages to the windshield. I always kept a sun shield in the windshield too. Guess that doesn't make a difference after all.

This is the reply I received from them this week.
Yes! We are planning on reproducing the Dodge Ram 1500 dashboard. The model were working on is the 1997-2001. We just received one and are making a mold as we speak. This is a long process, so it won’t be available for a few months. I do see a big market for them.
Do you have a Dodge with this problem?
I'll let you know when they become available if you'd like.
Thanks for taking the time to contact us.
Regards,
Melanie Browne

I'll add my story to this list. '01 ram 1500 first truck, now I understand why songs are written about them. I used armor all on my first dash, I'm not all psycho or anything, I clean it when I notice it's dirty, or about every two weeks. It began to crack and rapidly progressed to the point where my wife had it replaced while I was out to sea. Since then, I have NOT used armor all, and have NOT had any cracks. This may be a recurring(every 4yrs) problem, I'll let you know next year. I was rather surprised that the dash fell apart. I was hoping that it was limited to the dash, but all the interior plastic has started to crack. Maybe it is a torque spec thing? I don't know. Maybe it was a brand of armor all and we should kick them in the nards...
I guess I will chime in too. I am a usually proud owner of a 2000 Ram 1500. I never knew of any issues with the plastics in these trucks until I found this thread. Let me start by saying that I have never used Armor All on my dash. I have always been a believer in Meguiar’s. Last fall I walked out to my truck as I do every morning and there they were, three large cracks on the dashboard. Since then, I have contacted every Dodge dealer in the area to find out what I can do for this issue. They all tell me that it is a fluke… this type of thing doesn’t happen to Dodge trucks. Well, after reading twenty-some pages, apparently it does. I have just ordered one of the molded overlays as I refuse to pay the $1,300 to replace it with no guarantee.
I knew I wasn't the only one with this problem. I am wondering if anyone has a solution other than just putting a cover over the problem. I did read on another forum about the difficulty of the OEM parts. Has anyone found a simpler solution other than the cover?
