I just took my dash off and fiberglassed the hell out of it and used epoxy. It was kind of like putting together a jig saw puzzle. Stronger than new.

Your 10 to 15 year old truck has a cosmetic problem, widespread or no, and you want Dodge to cover it?

Recalls are for safety issues severe enough that injury or worse may result. How would a cracked dash cause this? It wouldn't, therefore its cosmetic only.

Give me a break. Just like the group of people who tried to sue Apple over 7-10 year old iMacs that would develop bad screens. Next thing people will be suing HP or Dell over their 8+ year old hard drives failing, or the TRANE company for their 30 year old A/C system breaking down.

They come with a warranty for a reason. Once that expires, you are on your own. If you don't like it, buy a new truck with a warranty. Personally, I'll deal with a few broken parts, heck of a lot cheaper than the monthly payments for a new vehicle.

You can't have everything. Newer with warranty or older without.

I've gotten a pretty good offer to replace my 2001 Ram 1500 cracked dash top from my local dealer. My question is, should I have them replace the evaporator and heater core while they are in there? Cost would be $530, and if I had to do it on my own without the dash replacement they quote $1350, and the dash would probably fall apart in their hands and I would have to replace it at that time. I don't think there is a current problem with these, but with the truck being 10 years old...how long are these parts expected to last? Am I living on borrowed time? BTW, the truck has only 45000 miles on it with no problems, and I expect to keep it another 10! Thanks for your input.

If you can get a good deal on the dash, evap, and heater core, and plan on keeping the truck forever, Go for it.

Exactly. The lawyers will rake in the cash and you'll get a coupon for $10 off your next $40K Ram purchase. Remember the GM fuel tank fiasco?
