the whole turning the OD off thing is purely habit for me now, been doin it for over a year now. I hate how these trucks shift, especially into od, so I drive with it off for the most part. Once I'm up to around 90 km/h or so I'll usually let it shift into OD then, but anytime I'm below that I turn it off. Works better that way

I call epic shens on that. Pics or it didn't happen. I know for a fact that crappy Chrysler axles won't support 37's. Much less 37's on a truck that's been aired out "5 feet in the air."

****, I don't air my Expedition much higher then that off the ground, and with long travel its still an incredible jolt of a landing.

You sir, are full of it.

I swear to god, I wouldn't lie about this. It was off road (private property) at night so no pics, I was wasted, but there were 4 other people in the truck with me. (no one injured) I had it floored for about 100yards, didn't see the speedo too well but i remember it reading around 65-70 so about 80mph.

I didn't say it held up, when we landed it popped out both the passenger side ball joints, COMPLETELY OUT, the upper actually separated from the socket of the ball. 6 months later the wheel bearings went out badly as well probably related since it was the same side.

The only thing holding the wheel on was the steering since it didn't have axle shafts then.

I think the frame may be tweaked too. Still daily driven to this day, however its on 33s currently.

I don't care if you believe me. But don't call me a liar.

When I said the truck held up fine I meant on the street. Jumping a truck is not something most people do normally or during daily driving.

I should also add the truck had 187K miles when this occurred and the ball joints were far from acceptable condition.

The reason I posted this is to tell the OP that stock 1500 axles will handle up to 37" tires. The front maybe not for long, I never had axleshafts in my front when I ran the 37s. The 9.25 rear definitely will though, I am not easy on my trucks and never have been.

And how did my story evolve? I simply stated I jumped the truck about 5 ft...? then I explained the story in greater detail.

How would you remember if you were wasted? The story unfolds

I should also add the truck had 187K miles when this occurred and the ball joints were far from acceptable condition. ....Because of the stupid large tires

As I said, there were 4 other people in the truck with me who were not wasted. The only part I actually dont remember is when we were airborne. I do remember flooring it and seeing the hill right before the launch and the landing which was very hard. We actually bounced up onto 2 wheels for a sec because we didn't hit the jump perfectly straight.

I drove the truck for about 8 months with the 37s on and put about 6K miles on it then. No thats not alot, I can't afford to keep replacing tires that big and I got sick of the gas mileage.

And the reason the balljoints were bad BEFORE I PUT THE 37s ON is because I bought the truck from rednecks who lived off a dirt road and used it as their ranch truck for 2 years.

heres a pic of it on 37s
