towing question
im about to get a non running 1988 suburban as a project for mainly a bug out vehicle. would it be alright to tow with a uhaul two wheel car dolly? anyone ever tow something that big with one? im not going very far. maybe like 30-40 miles. what yall think?
haha na it actually ain't got any rust which is surprising only reason it needs a tow is a piston grenaded. inside and body and under is perfect except for some paint peelin. which is fine because i was gonna sand it down and paint it OD green.
hell yeah some of em are. but some are ****. this one ain't got a motor in it. good god that thing is in GREAT shape. crawled under it and not a bit. **** its in better shape than my dodge does and its 11 years older. slap a rebuilt 350 in it and call it a day. oh and 108k on it. not bad at all if ya ask me for a grand
If you are using a dolly, pull the driveshaft out of the burban before towing it, otherwise, you may end up with a smoked transmission, as well as a bad motor.....

Will the wheels even clear the fenders of the dolly when you turn? The wheels on the dolly should turn a few inches when you turn, that makes it about impossible to back up when you have a vehicle on it.
I'm thinking of a friends car dolly that I had for a while, Uhaul might have a different style.

i was thinking i could just slap the transfer case in neutral and the transmission in neutral. shouldn't that work?
Maybe....... I am not sure that it actually disengages everything. It should..... but, removing the driveshaft is only four bolts, and is Guaranteed to work.
