I love my new job
My new job is the best...i basically can work whenever i want, even if its for two hours....i get paid REAL good money....lets say this i work 8 hours, and make $125 bucks.......now im going to be working 40-45 hours a week...since this was my first week i couldnt do a full week.
but i work Mon-Thurs 7:45 a.m until we decide to stop. Im rebuilding Fishing boats...the kind of boats you see on the "Deadliest catch"
I got to smoke butts whnever i feel like it. My friend is my boss...we "smoke" as well, and i "smoked" in front of the owner of the company, and he asked to get it on it, and this was on the clock hahahaha!!!!!
I have to say though it is alot of labor...and i had to climb one of the masts (120 ft up) and i was at the top grinding and painting....very scary.
but This is f'n awesome

yup, the owner of the company said that hes been lookin for guys, but no one can handle all the labor, and the climbing of 120 feet. so he cant hold on to people. We have work to carry us out into the summer.....he said its the busiest winter hes ever had. i have 4 different boats im working on, and theres another 6 waiting...each boat takes about a month or 2 to complete, so that should say something.

Do you guys work outside? Or, do you have a shop that you can pull boats into when the weather gets ugly? (unstep the mast first please. )

Congrats on the job!. Having a friend as a boss is a def plus in the ship building/repair industry. I'm a security guard at a shipyard and one thing i've learned from working there is that the work drastically fluxuates. Some week you'll have ten boats to repair, then you'll have no work for a month. Lots of layoffs in the ship industry. But if you can prove yourself and work hard all the time (laborers are generally lazy, another thing i've learned) you'll def be able to keep your job. What shipyard are you at? You might run into a friend of mine. He works at ProMet Marine in Providence. He's a safety manager and he goes to MA alot to some shipyard to work on stuff.
BTW, i'd rather climb a mast then crawl around inside the hull of a petroleum barge
