all the 2500's i have messed with were listed as 241DLD or 241DHD, maby try that if ya havent already, but to scare ya a little, i have ran across two different input shaft sizes, and its a crap shoot on which one it could be, no way to really know for sure that i am aware of, other than seperating them, the two shafts are different sizes and have different spline counts

Thank You for the info, this is exactly what I was worried about. I knew this couldn't just be a simple swap.

The differences in input shaft were between manual, and automatic transmissions. So far as I have been able to find, swapping the transmission should be a direct fit.

It is going to work, but anyone that says a shop can change a front seal in 2 hours is full of shat! At least not on a truck that has spent all it's life in New England.

They have the special tools that make the old seal hop right out, and the new seal jump in...... I want some of those.

Yea, I want one too.LOL But even that won't do shat when you add a whole lot of rusted bolt heads into the equation. I'm pretty aggravated right now to say the least.

Time for a beer, and a cigarette then. Kick back and relax for a while, then, if ya ain't done yet, go back out and play some more. Or, screw it, do it tomorrow.

I feel your pain there man. Shoulda seen me wailing on the wrench to get the old O2 sensor out....... My teenage son learned some new words tonight.

Well after 4 days of pure h-e-l-l, LOL It's done and works. I had to change the TCC and OD solenoids and harness, and governor body, the switch and solenoid are different on a 98.
