Default When did you change your t-Chain? How much slop?

ok now that my Ram is my only vehicle and i dont have to worry about fixing the maxima anymore, im getting ready to do a little maintenance to my Ram.

Im about to roll 205K, and the truck runs excellent. But i dont know if t-chain is stock.

When did you change yours and how much slop was in it? i want to know if i should get right into it, or if i can hold out a few weeks. i dont want to chance anything. and i figure im going to change the harmoic at the same time....shes got some wobble.

Last does the timing cover sets come with a front seal? i bought a gasket before...just the gasket, and it didnt come with the front seal....its there a combo kit?

Changed mine at 165K. Was a LOT of slop....... Major improvement in the way the engine ran afterwards.

I got the felpro kit, and it came with the front seal. Was like 20 bucks and some change.

The newer trucks had a chain tensioner as well, and some recommend installing that too..... I wasn't aware of that particular trick when I did mine, so, strangely enough, didn't do it....... I suspect that the timing chain is going to last me longer than the rest of the truck anyway.

I install the S&W? Double .25" roller set.

Changed for first time at 196,100 kms. That's on the 98 5.2. Enough slop in chain that I breathed a sigh of relief knowing it wasn't too late.

The amount of 'adjustability'. I bought the three key chain set, simply because it was the .25" double roller that I wanted. I just installed it straight up.

If I am going to change a part, and there is a part available, that is better than stock, (which the double roller most certainly is....) I go for the upgraded part. I think there was less than 20 bucks difference between a stock chain, and the double roller I picked up. Peace of mind is worth more than that.

Did mine about 100,000 and about same slop in dodge's pic above, Ordered the Comp Cams Magnum double roller from summit with the 3 key way and installed normal.
