It doesn't take a whole lot to get it back on. I used a dead blow hammer on mine.

I used a duckfoot puller on mine.
Don't pull it from the outside edge with a 3 jaw puller or you'll break it.

You can rent them, but I went ahead and bought one. They're pretty cheap. You'll also need a harmonic balancer installer.

you DO need a puller for the harmonic balancer. either a duck foot style that attaches to the front face of the balancer, or a 2 jaw that can catch the inside of balancer. do NOT pull of the outside rim or you will destroy it.

the hammer smack is to get the crank bolt off. other alternatives are to somehow hold the engine from turning, using braces bolted to the balancer, or screwdriver in starter ring, etc. or just use an impact wrench. that's by far the easiest thing to do.

do NOT use the starter to remove or tighten a crank bolt. it too dangerous and could break things.

I just replaced mine last night, very easy to do. I used the same type puller that purpl has. As for installing it, I lightly tapped it with a mallet into place, and then used the crankshaft bolt to pull it back into place. As for breaking loose the crankshaft bolt, just invest in a good impact gun. It is by far the easiest way to break loose the nut, and I can promise you will use it again on future jobs. Not counting a few trips to advance for some oil, shop rags, and a bypass hose, it only took me about 4 hours, and that included wire brushing the timing cover to make it nice and purdy.

I probably didn't need to replace it yet, but its peace of mind, I only had about 3/4" to 1" of slack @121,500 miles. Excuse the crappy cell phone pic, I was very pleased with how clean the inside of the timing cover was, you can't really tell from the pic, but you could eat off of it.

I don't have any pics of the new chain installed, but I went with a Comps Cam double roller from Summit for $45. Seemed like a good deal to me.
