Weighed the boat and the ram today. Front axle 3300lb rear 2800(rounded to nearest 100lb) then boat axle was 2400lb. Truck weighs right at 5700/5800lb sooo that means around 2800lb of trailer. With the club cab short box and 3.92 gears and 33-1250-15s am i within my limits? Being at 8500lb for a half ton seems like a lot... Btw this weight was taken on a certified scale and my truck had an empty fuel tank and so did the boat plus no gear. So probably more like close to 9000lb with the boat fully loaded. Truck sure seemed like a dog... Time to go to a 2500? I have towed it before but not as much as i am now. I also tow the 1500lb trailer with 4wheelers on it fairly often and a trailer with 500gal of water here and there.

You could go with a 2500.
Or 4.56 gears.

I don't think you are exceeding any limits there at all. An aux cooler for the trans wouldn't hurt though.

I keep looking at them..... I saw an exact duplicate of my truck, but, with a diesel... at the bank not so very long ago.... I offered to swap the guy, but, he just kinda smiled and drove away....

1500's are rated to tow about 7300lbs. GCWR would be about 13,000lbs then.

Its all in the FAQ section.
