Default Recommend me a trailer brake controller

So, I have my 96 ram 2500 v10 4x4 and I'm looking for a new trailer brake controller. It currently has one in there from when I bought it, but I've seen them fail before, so I just want to replace it. I've already had enough failures with this truck to rely on this piece.

Anyway, I will be doing most of my towing with a single and 2 car trailer. So, figure on average a 5-10,000 lb load. I have the factory plug, so I'm looking for something that is plug n play. Which, is another reason why I want to ditch this controller. It was a hack job install with splices and wires run everywhere. A simple plug in controller would have been so much easier for the previous owner.

I was looking at some of these choices for a 7 pin trailer plug setup.

Let me know what works good for you.

Excellent. I can't believe I didn't see that vid on their site haha. Proportional it is. I do a ton of hauling with a few different style trailers and loads.

My one parts supplier had them in stock. My discount is so good, I save $1 over getting it from etrailer.com

I use the Tekonsha proportional brake controler and I like it a lot. Takes a little time to get set up but once done it works great.

That's what I just ordered. For the amount of towing we do, spending the money now for comfort and good balanced braking is a good investment.

I love my Tekonsha P3, I have towed with it for over a year, it switches between trucks easily, just ordered an extra quick mount for that. I tow a few different trailers so the easy adjustability and diagnostics is a plus.
