Wrenching Carnage!

I bet more than yeouch. I'd say partial loss of feeling for several years until the nerves repair themselves. My first Dodge was a 66 D-100 and I was having trouble getting the old oil filter off. I drove a screw driver through it and began twisting (it started turning), but my hand slipped due to dirty oil all over me and I got 12 stitches and some nerve damage that eventually healed. My Dad was more like others on here and hammers loved his thumbs. K.
Its still bleeding a bit, but id like to think itll stop within the next day or so.

Then you have the trouble of explaining what just happened to the 911 operator "I smashed my finger trying to install a ujoint with a hammer instead of a press!"
All joking aside...
I think they get some of the weirdest calls sometimes.
BTW why was it so difficult to put a ujoint in that you had to take a hammer to it that hard??

Few weeks back I was changing my front driveshaft ujoint and I hit my finger with a 4lb hammer. 6 stitches, lost my nail and broke the tip of my finger. May have some nerve damage too. Cant feel any pain now. Cant feel much of anything in that finger actually. The next day I supervised my girlfriend put in a new ujoint and put the front shaft back on. Was.... Interesting

I was actually working on my mower deck yesterday.... (72" deck, weights about 500 pounds.) when I notice there was blood ALL over my pliers....... looked at my hand, and it was just covered. Given the amount of blood, I expected to see one of my fingers half severed.... (there was a LOT) Went into the house, and washed up good..... all the blood came from a tiny little 1/8th inch pinch wound....... I was truly surprised...... I put a bandaid on it, and went back to work..... Still seem to have a hole in the end of my finger though..... odd.
