Default Not a good day so far!!!

OK well I need to rant a bit.. A little info first. I have been unemployed for some time now with no luck at finding a job. I have a good friend who works for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He told me about a Job fair that was today at 8 A.M. He talked to his boss and put in a very good word for me and told me to show up and look for his boss and have a talk with him about a job.

Woke up at 6 this morning and got ready to go. Printed off my resume from the computer and then another friend who is unemployed showed up at about 7:15. Left the house and got my coffee and made it to the Hotel were the Job fair was being held. Got parked and in the building by 7:55. Walked around looking for a sign to find out were this meeting was being held.
Overheard the lady behind the counter tell another lady that it was downstairs and to the left. Me and my buddy followed that lady down the steps towards the meeting room. We were no more than 5 steps behind her and she walks through the door and the guy slams the door shut and looks at me and my buddy and says " No more people in your late." I looked at this guy and said " You just let that lady in so why can't we go in also?" His reply " Your late and we don't need people like you working for this company."
I pulled my phone out and looked at it and while I was looking at my phone it clicked over to 8:01. I told this guy that letting that lady in right in front of us then telling us that we could not go in was absolutely uncalled for. He said " Think about it, you were essentially late for your first day of work and we dont need people like that working for this company."

I have a baby girl going to be born anytime now and the pure ignorance of this man almost pushed me over the edge. If it weren't for my baby girl going to be here soon I certainly would have laid hands on this guy...
....

WTF is wrong with people these days!?!?!!?! Sorry its so long guys I just had to get that out.

Fark him. He just proved you don't want to work for a company that employs a douche like he is.

Thats pretty much what I said to him as I was leaving. I said " Im kinda glad you thought I was late cause I sure as hell dont want to work for a ***** like you!" His reply to that was "Thats good cause we wouldnt want you working for us anyhow." I had to keep walking away from him or something bad would have happend.. Its just pure ignorance.

ask yourself, "do you want to work for people like that?"... that will make it go down easier..

some people can't handle even the tiniest amount of power.. this guy was obviously one of them..

I would call the company and tell them what happened.. or better yet, write them a letter addressed to the CEO, president, or whoever it is that runs the joint.. explain to them as courteously as you can what happened.. it will likely not make you any headway, but it may also if you request an opportunity to interview for any position they have, as you refuse to believe that such behavior is indicative of the company itself.

write that letter.. ask them point blank for an interview.. explain to them why you want the job and that you are in fact an asset.

This. And also mention the names of the person who recommended you for the interview and his boss as well.

That is an EXCELLENT idea.

Yeah, the way the economy is, companies can be really picky about who they do, or do not.. hire. I have had experience with interviewing with a company for a position I was eminently qualified for, but, as there was a 'gap' in my employment history.... they wouldn't hire me. (I have MS, took me a while to get used to that...... now, I am simply medically retired, as in the current climate, I am basically unemployable.)

maybe... in the box that others have defined, you are unemployable..

but you're pretty GD smart, and you have a good grip on two things that I know of for sure.. trucks, and computers..

I have an idea, and I have the assets to pursue it without much effort on my part, but for it to work- I'd need someone with your abilities and circumstance.. I don't know if there would be much money in it, but if there was- I'd split it with you or anyone else willing to participate..

if you have any interest, let me know via PM, and I'll spill the beans.

Im gonna try and get hold of some of the big shots and go from there. The way I was treated was just uncalled for so we will see how it goes.

he used you and your buddy as lab rats to assert his (lacking) badassitry to everyone else in attendance... he's a weak tool.. he won't last long in a decent company, and, no doubt, he'll spin tarns about how it was everyone else's fault but his..

no worries.. write that letter..

My step father's brother is a yardmaster for Norfolk Southern in Winston-Salem, NC, he loves it! Worked his way up too.
