Default Getting the lights to turn on

Okay I have had it. I want the lights to go on when I open the driver side door. The truck is missing the plunger thingy that moves when the door is opened or closed. What is that part called? Is it worth trying to get one from the junk yard? And finally how the heck does one reinstall the plunger thingy?

Door Jamb switch. Should be tons of them in the yards. Probably not all that much for a new one either. Usually, there is just a 'nut' (if you care to call a hexagonal piece of stamped steel a "nut".....) holding it on. Have to pull the kick panel to find the inside and the wire though......

i figure the door jamb switches should be fairly cheap at the parts store. rock auto is only asking $5 per switch plus shipping.

not by much. now if you lived in Canada the shipping would cost about 5x what the switches cost just for shipping.

considering they used to build the second gens in canada, among other places, you would think they just might have one or two parts sources in the country........ but then, that's what ya get for thinkin'........

Sounds easy enough and only $7 at the parts store. Soon I'll be going from cursing the dark to cursing at myself for leaving the light on.

Thanks
