I gotta say how is this ghetto but gutting the cat or eliminating mufflers accepted? most of the mods done here have some negative side effect or seem stupid or impractical to some... like complaining or harsh ride after a budget spacer lift, crappy gas mileage and no power after adding bigger tires without changing gears, or wanting the truck to sound like the exhaust rotted off to intimidate others at stoplights.... lifting a 2wd...lowering a 4wd...I could go on all day There isnt much here that someone wont have a negative opinion on or one couldnt find fault in....

...if you don't have the common sense to see what's wrong with this "mod" I'm not going to waste my time explaining it..I'm not saying doing this to remove slack out of a stretched throttle cable will do any harm I'm saying that using zip ties to adjust your throttle pedal is stupid..

But "if it adds too much strain to the plastic piece where the cable connects to the tb" a zip tie will give a create less strain. It's been done by people on here before and as far as I know people have never had a problem.

I'll admit to it. Cable there was considerable travel in the pedal before anything would happen, added 3 or 4 zip ties, took out almost all the useless travel from the pedal.

Not as good as just replacing the cable, but cheaper and easier.

I think I'll give it a try then. It has plenty of play and I'm tired of pushing it down so far until it goes.

As has been said, this isnt pretty, but who cares? Who looks at the end of your throttle cable? Im going to have to see how much slack is on my 2g.

In any case, i like this piece and im going to featured it on the DF Front Page today.

I just put 3 zipties on. I can fit a 4th on but I'll leave just that big of slack in it for now. I'll be testing it out in a half hour to see if it helped with anything. Will this put too much stress/pressure on that little plastic piece at the end of the cable?

Atleast I won't have to have my foot angled that far though..

the plastic pieces wont have any more tention on them providing you dont slam your foot down on the petal like your wife does on the floor when shes pissed. i mean idk about anyone else but even with 33 12.50 and 3.55 gears i dont need much more then 4th gear to pass at 70 mph. or role up to 100 for that matter. i weighted my truck the other afternoon with the modded bumpers and skid pans im roling 7232 lbs empty. i have slack in mine from but that from slaming on the pedel and pulling the pedal away from the floorboard. and streaching the cable well slamming gears in the mud. and water.

idk what is with you guys trucks but i have the optimal amount of slack. Just enough i can rest my foot without gassing the truck. And its comfortable.

different strokes for different folks as they always say!
