Default Zip tie mod!!!

Ok so the other day I was snoopung around another forum and stumbled across this easy and cheap mod!

The whole idea behind this mod is that your throttle pedal is connected to a cable style linkage, well in most vehicles there is a little slack in the cable which causes your pedal to hover just above the floor board!

Heres a pic of the stock pedal positions

And heres a pic of where the pedal connects to the throttle cable

In this picture im lifting the pedal up to show the amount of slack in my system

Four zip ties and 10 mins later heres the result

And finally the end result, its not much but the angle I was holding my foot before was killing my ankle after driving around town.

The beauty of this mod is you can pretty much do it to any vehicle with a cable actuated throttle!

Good luck!

thats a good way to snap the plastic piece at the end of your throttle cable that attaches to the throttlebody...get on it hard to pass someone then have the truck fall flat on its face as the throttle plates snap closed...think about it theres a certain amount of slack in the cable for a reason...

There is slack in mine, but I had my wife hold the throttle to the floor while I checked the TB with cleaner off. I tried to open the butterflies further using the linkage on the side of the TB. NO GO. It was fully open. Try that after you remove the zip ties. If they dont fully open, cable is stretched and its time for a new one. Unless there is an adjustment somewhere. I dont know.

No they just don't open up all the way. I have already done this to my 2001 durango 4.7, and I had done it on my 2001 explorer 5.0. Its an easy way to get better throttle response and also have the blades open up almost all the way.

The butterflies on my throttle body do open all the way before before the mod, the zip ties more or less let you adjust where you pedal sits.

Before my pedal sat very far back (closer to the firewall) and low to the floor board, now my gas pedal sits about flush with the brake pedal
