there is no slack in the throttle cable...he felt his pedal was too close to the floor so he decided to throw a bunch of zip ties on it..which not only lifts your pedal off the ground but gives you more pedal travel meaning more leaverage on the cable....this puts alot of pressure on the little plastic piece that holds your throttle cable...you know what if other people cant figure this out then go ahead and do this mod i could waste a day explaining this and get nowhere...

Well Maybe the throttle cables are adjusted differently for your 5.9's then but on my 4.7 I know for a FACT and 100% guaranteed that my butterfly was NOT open all of the way. After adding a couple zip ties underneath my pedal I checked again and BAM! all the way open with the butterfly being 100% horizontal. It was like this on my Ford Explorer 5.0 too. . . . . So regardless of what you think you know, I just happen to know that you are in fact wrong.

I was hinting in a less than offensive way this looks like a " Ghetto Rigged ", I.E. (Elvis-The Ghetto )mod without a lot of thought. A plastic bushing would provide a more reliable fix, if this were a feasible idea.

The cable stretches over time. Taking up the slack in the cable, which is what he had in mind, so that you can actually open the throttle all the way.... doesn't sound like a bad plan to me. Sometimes, ya just use what works. Doesn't matter if it's pretty or not.

Who the hell is gonna crawl up under my dash board to look at the throttle, and tell me "thats ghetto!"? Id say get a "f#@%ing life!"

Yeah I could have looked around and found some kind of spacer or bushing, but I was in the middle of cleaning up all my accessories wiring, thats when I happened to remember this mod and tried it out. Cost me next to nothing, I think I even found those zip ties on the gound in my drive way!

Here's where this so-called mod belongs: There, I Fixed It - Redneck Repairs

Before my pedal sat very far back (closer to the firewall) and low to the floor board, now my gas pedal sits about flush with the brake pedal

Good for you finding a mod that does what you want, and does it for free!

Mine has the slack as well, but I had a bud check it, and im completely open when floored, so I dont see any reason to mess with it.

A better thing to do would be to use ONE fishing sinker, the "bite" kind (1/4 ounce should do). That way the pressure is on the cable and not the plastic piece. Put a dab of solder above the sinker when it is tight to the BOTTOM piece and the sinker will not even touch the plastic piece on top.

I know this because I did it.
