Default Protect IP / SOPA

This video shows what it's all about.
It sounds like bad news to me. I think one thing that's particularly screwed up about it is that SOPA would make it so people couldn't post videos of them singing a copyrighted song online. I would think that the artists would be flattered that someone liked their music enough to sing one of their songs and post it online.

SOPA isn't even going to be voted on. Public outrage convinced the sponsors to shelve it. This doesn't mean that Holyweird isn't going to continue looking for excuses to screw us all over, but SOPA and PIPA are dead for the time being.

Till February anyway.

Not like it matters. Have a look at what happened with MegaUpload, and those that got it going. And that is without SOPA being in place.

Also have a look at what Chanel has accomplished. All they need to do is submit a list of domain names, and they instantly control them. No due process at all.

i doubt it would ever be passed. look at all the extremely powerful online companies like Google and eBay. Google also owns you tube does it not? there goes about 1/3 of the internet right there. if it was to actually pass most of the companies would move to where the law will not effect there business.

What it is going to come down to is: Which companies (recording industry, or internet industry) makes the biggest campaign donations........

Hollywood loses more to piracy from Chinese knock offs than anything else. We have sold our sould to the Chinese and no one has the b**** to do anything about it. Coporations and politicians have bread this dragon, and we will all continue to be under corporate greed and control......(slowly stepping down from soap box......)

Too bad these big internet companies couldnt throw their weight around with other bills that matter. Maybe they could have started a movement to not let the NDAA be signed in. But that doesnt threaten their business model.
