49 hours without a cigarette
Quit dip'n promptly at sunrise last monday morning. Went to WallyWorld sunday and bought two HUGE bags of sugarless bubble gum. The Tony Gwynn deal kinda got to me. Played golf wednesday and had what was easily my worst round in probably five years. As of friday morning I had gained 6 lbs. of the 80+ I managed to lose in the past year.
Promised the lady across the street (a pretty damn hot divorced chick I might add) that I'd take down a half dozen trees in her back yard yesterday. Got 15 minutes into the project when she came out and said she was running to the store and would I like her to get me a 6 pack of beer, on her. I said that'd be nice and then handed her a $5 out of my wallet and asked her to get me a can of Copenhagen.
I'd like to say it was nice while it lasted, but truth be told, IT SUCKED! and I'm back dip'n...

That's great that you made it a week. Nicotine is some strong stuff, your body just doesn't like to let it go. Do you think you might have made it longer if you had a nicotine substitute or is it just the taste and feeling of having a wad in your gums that you felt the need to have?
I told the fiancee that if I hit 225 that I'm gonna start hitting the gym. My weight fluctuates day to day between 213 and 220. I step on the scale at work every day because it's in my path from my work area to the break room.
I played yesterday and the day before. Two days ago my driver was compliant and consistently between 240 and 260 yards.
I even had a personal best hole ever with how I played it. I hit a 300 yard drive just to the left of center on the fairway, fat 130 yard 8 iron to leave me 10' from the hole, missed the eagle putt (crappy greens with little clovers or something growing in them and ball marks) and hit a tap in birdey from 5".
Yesterday at a better course everything fell apart. I was hitting low or low-draw drives all day and as far as I know I didn't change a thing. I need to hit the driving range to see what I am doing wrong.

One month three weeks as of 7am this morning. Haven't had one, don't want one.
I'm still using the PV and liking it. The desire to puff on the PV isn't as strong as the desire for a cigarette was when it came time to smoke one. I think the desire for nicotine and the desire for the taste are probably about 50/50 with the PV. I have three flavors that I use, they taste like Juicy Fruit gum, cake (the yellow part not the frosting) and coffee.
Lung capacity has definitely improved because it takes quite a bit more (had to underline that) movement before I get winded. My sense of smell and taste haven't changed a bit.

I've been dipp'n Smokey Mountain Snuff the last two weeks. It's a non-tobacco - all natural herb product. Took some getting used to but now it's ok. I'm not really addicted to the nicotine but am just so damn used to having dip in the same spot when I'm doing stuff outdoors.
Congrats. It's a new world for sure. I quit last June on my 51st birthday....cold turkey.
I smoked for 36 years and when I quit was smoking 2 full packs a day and often would open a 3rd pack and start on it before bedtime.
January 3rd I started walking. Seriously walking. About 4 to 6 miles, most days of the week. I've gone from 282 lbs to today's weight of 249 in just over 3 months. My goal is to level out at 205. I was barely fitting in a 40 in waist jean and right now my 38's are falling off. Need to shop for 36's.
I swore I'd never be an "anti" smoker, but now that I'm smoke free for 9 mo's, I find it completely disgusting to be around it. I can smell someone smoking while I'm walking, depending on the wind, from over a block away. I remember standing outside of stores and such, draggin' on one and seeing nasty looks from people passing by me. I know why now.
I breathe better, smell better, haven't hacked up anything in a couple months. I won't say even 9 mo's later that I don't think about it. The "habit" issue still messes with me, particularly after a meal or getting in my truck but the "feeling" passes more quickly as time goes by.

I believe the only reason I was able to get off cigs was because I had the e-cigs. The cravings aren't near as strong now because e-cigs don't give you as much nicotine as a cigarette does.
Of course like anything else, they'll probably come out with a finding at some point where something in it will kill you at some point, but I'm sure it's a lot better than tobacco. It does take some getting used to and I find it breaks down a lot faster than tobacco does, meaning you use a good bit more of it.
On the plus side is that you don't need to spit and can just swallow the juice. I don't spit much with regular dip either, which is why I switched from leaf tobacco over 20 years ago. But when I'm done with this stuff, I just swallow what's left in my mouth - never could do that with real snuff - although I know plenty of good 'ol boys who do.
Other plus side is that it's exempt from tobacco tax so it's dirt cheap (at least around here) compared to tobacco. In Florida I was paying $5.85 a can for long cut Cope and even the cheap stuff like Grizzly is $3.50 a can. This stuff is anywhere from $1.49 to $1.89 a can depending on where I get it.
I'll have to check when I go up to the farm in Georgia next month. I can get a roll of Copenhagen for $9.95 there, am hoping I can find the tobacco free stuff even cheaper than the buck and a half a can I'm paying here...
