Blue, offer him $75 or $100, telling him that is has to be rebuilt and is worth $0.00 as it is. The 46re is what you need.

Rebuild it, get a new TC, and slap that puppy in when you get it done. It is not that difficult to rebuilt. Limitation will be $ to upgrade such as frictions and VB kit like Sure Cure, But these are not absolutely necessary.

You seem to be very resilient and motivated to get things done. You can do this.

I thinkin' A518 is just another name for the 46RE, looking at tranny parts on Napa's website the 46RE is listed as the 46RE/A518

The a518 is our trans, just the model number itself. I'm in that finacial flood now and I'm waiting for the sun to shine myself. It sucks but I try to stay positive.

Okay between all this jargon have you been able to verify if 3rd and 4th gear work or not? If it's just that it does not come out of first it could be something different I'll touch on this later. Okay, stop, breathe and think. When you take off and it starts to rev up to 4k rpm did you take your foot of the accelerator? If so then did it go into 2nd?

I had this problem, and it was the forward gear band anchor. Drop the pan and see what it looks like. Dipstick don't mean much, it's a lazy indicator dropping the pan is going to allow you to see whats up.

o.k i am home now... kinda using my phone at work is frowned upon...
I havent driven on the high way yet, however i have gotten up to 60 miles an hour. yes when it rev. to 4k it changed gears by itself i did not ease off the gas. However at times it doesnt change, other times it changes around 3k. today at lunch it only paused briefly before changing gears, i only noticed it because its my truck i know how it feels. its sporadic shifting
