That transmission looks to be one HEAVY bastard! I helped my bro in law drop the transmission in a '97 Chevy 1500 Z71, it's pretty heavy too.

The guy at the truck load dock raised an eyebrow when I picked up my old tranny, carried it over, plopped it on the pallet, picked up the new one, and carried it back to my friends' jeep. By myself. He had a forklift there, and was expecting to load the whole pallet into the jeep with it.

Well, you're either incredibly strong or that's just a deceiving transmission. Looks more like an inline motor then it does a transmission....

Does the old fork have the 190 stamped on it?

standard transmissions are lighter than automatics. i lifted a standard transmission at work and it was a bit heavier than i thought but there was no way it could have been over 150lbs.

I wouldn't have figured they'd be so light. I remember a few years ago having to help move around an automatic transmission from an old Dodge car (can't remember what it was, front wheel drive turbo charged) that thing was heavy!

But I learned something....Usually do on this site

This one sits right around 200lbs. I will go out and grab the fork and check for markings...

The only markings are W3 and 17524.

Ok, it appears that the part you got was to replace the 17388 casting. Evidently, you have the 241DHD, and the fork is casting number 17524.

Go Here. Bottom of the page, part 41, in the bottom chart. 48.70

Part number on wittrans site is AM310840A Fork, NP241DHD/271 Range(Cast Iron)(Cast # C-17524)(Non Updated), but, they want 189 bucks for it? That seems REALLY outta line.

First 23 spline DHD I've ever heard of... Build sheet says DLD... However I was under the impression the only difference was 23 spline input vs. 29 spline...

Afterthought... '95 Ram 4x4 with many replaced parts, I was not the first one into the T-case... maybe a DHD with a 23 spline input shaft swap.....

HeyYou, thank you for the assistance. It is very much appreciated. It was my fault then, not wittrans...

Look at the tag on the t-case. It should tell you which it is. Mine actually has 241DHD printed on the round tag.
