Le sigh... 2x1972 almost had one... and the saga continues... I don't think this transmission was made much... It's one or two things... it's either the best transmission in the world and they never break or they were the crappiest and they are not salvageable!

Look for an NV4500LD as well. See which you find first.

I've come across people swapping it out... what all is involved? Bellhousing and drive shaft swap out? I have the old nv3500 that's in pieces... can I use that on a NV4500? and what am I gaining by doing this? :P

NV 4500 is a MUCH beefier trans. (might have a granny first too for that matter...) You would need the trans, with a bell housing, aside from that, I think everything else on your truck will work.

5.61 first gear in the dodges.

And finding a nv4500 LD Is (most likely) gonna be harder to do... and will probably cost more $$$.

But keeping a sharp eye out never hurt no one...

You would probably need the crossmember and trans mount from the donor as well. Not sure on that one.

Also the 4500 is a shorter transmission i believe.

Not going to help you much, but there is a nv4500 here in my neck o da woods. Wrecking yard wants like $800 I think? Been a few months since I asked or was it

My buddy here has a nv3500. They are seemingly scarce.
