Shucks, I had not really even started to dicker him down....my employees think my middle name is "free." They get a kick out of watching me negotiate with vendors. If this would work, I was gong to see what else he would throw in....already got him to agree to pull it out withOUT damaging linkage....

His 5 speed is on a 4x4.

Is it just swapping tailshaft out to make it work? Is the tailshaft good in yours? Hate to beat him down on price for something that will not work. (my methodology is to start peeling greenbacks off while counting out my offer - and yes - I used to buy and sell used cars professionally in a past life!)

Maybe someone else can provide input on whether this will work or not.

Converting a tranny between 2wd and 4wd requires total disassembly, way too much work to be worth it.

Thank you Hahns. That's what we needed to know. If I offered and the guy accepted, I feel personally obligated to complete the transaction.....and I do not need a 5 speed, and it would not be useful for safrantz.

Yeah my original nv3500 is on pieces... Counter shaft is missing about 6 teeth, input shaft about 4 teeth...and it appears the fluid was low...e.g...everything on the inside is burnt up....like goo.

This is why I run 3 quarts in mine, the intended 2 quart capacity doesn't sit right with me, doesn't leave much room for error.
